Long Beach, California

The Long Beach visit was actually a four day stop over after my flight from Auckland to Los Angeles. In this setting I felt I had been transported from shangri-la to the land of the concrete jungle.

Queen Mary - Since her retirement in 1967 this vessel has been permanently docked at Long Beech, California. The ship serves as a hotel, museum, tourist attraction and for rent site for events. During World War II she served as a troopship often carrying as many as 15,000 men in a single voyage. Her speed allowed her to often traveling out of convoy and without escort.
